Background:
Gayl has been Manager of the Batemans Bay Education Centre from its commencement in 2000. During her 33 years in the Eurobodalla, she has co-owned several businesses, taught French and English at local high schools, worked as a librarian with the Eurobodalla Library Services for 14 years and helped run a 40 acre hobby farm on the Deua River. Gayl’s involvement with the Education Centre has been one of the most rewarding phases of her life, especially seeing first hand the successes of so many students. |

Background:
Tess moved to the South Coast from Melbourne in 2001 and started tutoring that year. Tess’s key discipline is Information Systems. Her work experience has included consultancy in IT, IT training and IT management in both the government and private sectors. Since October 2006, Tess has taken on the role of Project Officer and also relieves Gayl (Centre Manager) when she is on leave. Along with these challenges, in 2008, Tess has commenced her Masters in Higher Education through UOW. |

Prior to 2003 Saskia spent most of her time as a full time mum. There had been a gap of some 20 years since formal full time study. This had been broken up by various interests including some work in the field of women’s reproductive heath, a little part time work and just generally enjoying being a mum/domestic goddess. After completing a BArts at Batemans Bay and a Grad Dip, Saskia is tutoring in various Arts subjects and loving it. As well as this she does casual teaching at local high schools. |

After twelve years in the banking industry (mainly lending) and two small children, Wendy first started tutoring to have a break from hearing the word "Mum" all the time. Now, seeing the growth and success students can have, gives her such a feeling of success. This is what brings her back year after year. In 2008, Wendy commenced studies in the Masters of Management at UOW Batemans Bay. |

Background:
Isabella moved to the Deua River Valley in 1979 before completing her degrees. On admission as a solicitor she worked in general practice locally and also for the Legal Aid Commission in Sydney until 1991. After several years mixing travel with part-time general practice, Isabella began teaching Law - first for Moruya TAFE for several years, then by correspondence for OTEN (TAFE external college). She commenced teaching for UOW at Batemans Bay in 2000 and currently teaches Law for the UNE as well as UOW and OTEN. Her most recent endeavour is working for Pearson Education, writing and editing material for use in new media. |

Georgette’s journey at UOW has been rewarding and yet challenging since English is her third language. She began tutoring in 2008 and is loving it! She finds it stimulating and worthwhile. She loves interacting with people from various cultural backgrounds and her passion is learning about languages. |

Jody completed her degree at UOW Batemans Bay and is currently engaged in a UOW PhD in environmental studies looking at the scientific research into the Tasmanian Devil cancer. She is enjoying tutoring in Environmental Science as she can share her experience both as an undergraduate and as a higher degree research student.
Jody also works at the Batemans Bay Community Library where she has developed a good knowledge of research strategies. She teaches a Skillsnet program, developed by the NSW State Library which delivers research skills to the general public.. |

Ken joined the Commerce faculty in 2005. he has his own business in marketing and marketing research and has worked in both the public and private sectors. He was the Marketing Research Statistician to three Federal Government Departments. His extensive public relations and media experience has included major launches by Federal and State/Territory Ministers. He has also undertaken numerous consultancies for businesses involving the broad range of commercial marketing activities. Ken has been teaching on a casual basis since 1993 at various institutions in Australia and overseas. |

During her degree, Kerryn was placed on the prestigious Dean’s Merit List. She is now completing her PhD in environmental politics from the UOW and expects to finish in 2008. Kerryn joined the teaching team in 2006 and is enjoying passing on all the experience and knowledge she has gained through her own studies! |

His hobbies include golf, gardening, local politics and entertaining his grand children. |

She spent thirty years in the media working for television, radio, magazines and newspapers. She was producer of two radio programs for ABC Radio, including The Coming Out Show and a program for and about migrants.
Pip enjoys tutoring and learning at both campuses and is contemplating writing a PhD on Memoir Writing, Truth or Fiction? And, does it matter? |

Susan Donaldson

Background:
Susan worked for the NT General Aboriginal Land Council as the anthropologist responsible for the Tennant Creek region. She also worked on cultural heritage identification and protection for the Alice Springs to Darwin railway as well as researching and reporting in the Tennant Creek Native Title Claim. More recently Susan has undertaken anthropological research on the NSW South Coast and regularly reports for the Gulaga and Biamanga National Park Boards of Managements.
Susan enjoys facilitating the students’ apprecialtion of Indigenous people’s experiences locally, nationally and internationally. |

Mary completed BA at Batemans Bay following several years working as a Tour Leader for Intrepid Travel in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Also worked as an assistant to a migration consultant in New Delhi, India; owning and managing a restaurant; and, working in the ACT Public Service. Mary is commenced her PhD in 2007, investigating the social impacts of water privatization on the poor in developing countries. |

At first Mark believed that he wanted to be an airline pilot, and he completed a private flying licence at 17. Before long, however, he realized that flying was merely a metaphor of his desire to rise above the pettiness of daily life, in order to see the big picture. In his thirties he returned to full-time study, gained a teaching degree and a Ph.D (on the poetry of John Donne), and he taught for 6 years at Monash University, in Melbourne. Mark is now entirely grounded, and living and writing on the NSW coast. |

While living in Darwin she met her (now) husband, and they are busy with their three children. |

Ann has tutored various English subjects at Batemans Bay over the last four years. She currently completing a Masters in English Literature through UOW. Ann (a very busy person) is also working as Project Officer, Curriculum Development in the Access section of TAFE NSW |

Kaye began studying at Batemans Bay in 2001, and has loved every minute of it. Having worked through her general Degree at the Centre, Kaye graduated with BCom Hons (First Class) in Accounting in July 2007. In 2005 she commenced tutoring in a number of accounting subjects. Kaye loves the small family-like atmosphere at the Centre. She enjoys interacting with the students at a more personal level than would be possible on the big campus. Kaye is married with three daughters and two granddaughters. |

Lillian is also a change management consultant and works in the field of personal and professional development. |
